Got Big Beats?

I hate to brag (not really), but I have the coolest family EVER!! My cousin Jeff...aka Smooth J, and Grammar G make up the legendary Big Beat Battalion, and they opened for Shiny Toy Guns at the Rio last Thursday night. I rounded up Janette and Taylor, and we headed down to watch the duo (with DJ Cherrybomb) serve up a whopping dose of lyrical genius. I have never doubted Jeff's abilities as a dope emcee, but holy tacos!! I was absolutely blown away! I was dancing like an obsessed groupie (not a big surprise) and would have totally got on stage if it wasn't for the 4 feet deep shrubs all the way around it. They were wildly entertaining, and I can officially say "I'm with the band!" ok not really, but they were great, and I heard lots of people talking about how well the performance was. I was sooo proud! Big props and much respect for the BBB. Check out their myspace, or their website at www.bigbeatbattalion.com. Word.

My hair be bangin'

Ooooooook. So I have been bored with my blondness the last few weeks, and I decided to cut some bangs. Yikes! Still trying to get used to em...just cut em this morning. Ashlee did a great job as usual. I just don't know how I feel about em yet. The last time I had bangs was probably 1990....the "claw" as some might say ;) I remember taking the curling iron and teasing the CRUD out of em and using a grip of hairspray! This time around, we will keep the "claw-ness" to a minimum. Whuddya think?

My Mommy is Married!!

She did it! After 8 years of being single, my mom was able to get re-married! The big day was 8-8-08, and it was a FANTASTIC evening. Mom married Gary Kestler, who is the dad of Kevin and Kurtis. I sang in "Blue Ice" in Jr. High with Kevin. My brother Jordan lives with Kurtis, they've been BFF for a long time, so it's kinda funny how everything worked out. They met in a post office 2 years ago when Gary was picking up the keys to the house he re-bought. It's the house that he had with his first wife, Kathy, who passed from breast cancer about 10 years ago. My mom recognized him, and said something like, "Hey you're Kurtis and Kevin's dad, I'm Jordan Hutchison's mom." He got her digits (pimp) and the rest is history! I couldn't be happier for her. You can see a difference in her, she's found her perfect mate. Congrats Deena and Gary!

Bryce Canyon

Jeez...I need to get with it and post more! There's been a lot happening 'round here, and if I don't hurry, I'm going to forget it all! The first weekend of August, we went up to Bryce Canyon for a birthday. I can't believe that I was born and raised in Las Vegas, and I had never been to Bryce. Weird?! Anyway, I really enjoyed it. It was breathtaking! We went on a tour of the park, and Aiden LOVED the bus! He's rather fond of the bus driver too :)

It was about a 3-4 hour tour, and it was great! I feel like a learned a lot about the area. My favorite is the "Hoodoos." I thought it was a joke at first, but the rocks that looked all stacked up skinny like they could fall over at any moment, they are really called Hoodoos! Kinda funny. It sounds like that's what I would call someone who was acting like a dork, "You freakin Hoodoo!!" Ha! But seriously, if you have a chance to visit Bryce Canyon, do it. It's worth it :)

Aiden's Return!

Yay! So the little man in my life is home! It was so great to hear his voice as he came up the steps to the front door of the house. I could hear him talking about "Magga" (my mom) and Tucker (the dog). My tummy did about 16 flips and then I opened the door. He politely said, "Hi Mommy, Hi Logan!" It was like he just got home from Wal-Mart or something. :) It's amazing how adaptable children are. I just scooped him up, sat down on the stairs and started crying my eyes out. I almost forgot what it felt like to hold that little guy! His big ol' melon rested on my shoulder and we just sat there for a few moments. It was great!

We have had a few things that have to be reestablished in our routine. He's clearly grown to be the King of the Castle, and needs to be reminded that I'm the mom dang it! That first day with him home was a weird one. Almost like we had to reconnect. He had no problem coming to me and his dad leaving, but it was later when he started to run around like we slipped him crack and started to become defiant. We were like, "who is this kid?!?" It only took a night of good rest and he was pretty much back to normal.

Anyway....we are off to family dinner! We will be back soon!

post much??

Just wanted to say......I think I fell off of the blog bandwagon.....I've been a little "preoccupied" I guess you can say. Aiden leaves to see his dad in SC next Saturday, so I think I will have a little more time on my hands to do stuff like this. :) He'll be gone for SIX weeks......any suggestions on what the heck I should do with myself besides want to fall apart?!? I am going on a trip for about 8 days of that.....but that's just it....only EIGHT days. I wish I could just be gone the whole time, but that just isn't possible. :( Anyway, I'll post more stuff soon....promise!
